Adams County Justice Court Cases

Week of Jan. 4-10:

Jenna Williams charged with embezzlement. Case bound over to a grand jury.

Francisco Lara charged with embezzlement. Case bound over to a grand jury.

Matthew Anders charged with simple assault. Case remanded to files.

Adams County Circuit Court Cases

Thursday, Dec. 20:

John Randall McClellan Jr. pleaded guilty to armed robbery in Judge Forrest “Al” Johnson’s court. Sentenced to 20 years in the Mississippi Department of Corrections. After serving 10 years, the remaining balance is suspended and the defendant is placed on post-release supervision for 10 years with MDOC. The first five years is to be formal reporting supervision and the remaining five years to be non-reporting post-release supervision with MDOC. Full credit given for time served in the Adams County Jail. Must pay all court costs and fees as well as a $200 prosecution fee.

Wednesday, Nov. 7:

Kalinda Payne, who was indicted on an embezzlement charge on Oct. 11, 2004, has her case entered nolle prosequi in Judge Lillie Blackmon Sanders’ court.

Monday, Oct. 15:

Terry Louis Herrington Jr., who was indicted for robbery on May 21, 2010, has his case entered nolle prosequi and dismissed in Sanders’ court.

Gerry Byrd, who was indicted for burglary of a dwelling on Nov. 21, 2011, has his case entered nolle prosequi in Sanders’ court.

Natchez Municipal Court Cases

Friday, Jan. 4:

Preston Sewell Carr, 23, pleaded guilty to shoplifting — first offense. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Banned from Walmart. Fine set at $494. Restitution set at $153.88. Carr also pleaded guilty to DUS — revoked or suspended. Fine set at $475.

Tia Groom, 18, charged with simple assault — domestic violence. Case remanded to files subject to non contact order.

Dexter Minor, 22, found not guilty of willful trespassing.

Antonio C. Carter, 36, pleaded guilty to public drunkenness. Sentenced to 10 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Satisfied by time served. Fine set at $294.

Steven Wayne Davis, 39, pleaded guilty to shoplifting — first offense. Sentenced to 30 days with 26 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. To serve four days in jail. Banned from Walmart. Fine set at $444.

Dannie Brinkley, 51, pleaded guilty to shoplifting — first offense. Sentenced to 30 days with 26 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. To serve four days in jail. Banned from Walmart. Fine set at $444.

Jerry Turner, 19, pleaded guilty to shoplifting — first offense. Sentenced to 30 days with 28 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Banned from Walmart. Fine set at $444.

Hayden Stringer pleaded guilty to amended charge of disturbing the peace. Sentenced to 30 days with 26 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Credit given for four days served. Fine set at $450.

Monday, Jan. 7:

Ken Washington, 36, charged with willful trespassing. Case remanded to files — stale case. Affidavit not found. Washington was also charged with petit larceny. Case remanded to files — stale case. Affidavit not found.

Kimberly Nickelson, 26, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct — failure to comply with officer. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Fine set at $444.

Latonia Schenall, 31, pleaded guilty to shoplifting — first offense. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Fine set at $444.

Shumaka Chatman, 40, pleaded guilty to shoplifting — first offense. Sentenced to 30 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Fine set at $444.

Tuesday, Jan. 8:

Carlos E. Ward, 30, charged with credit card or numbers use with intent to defraud. Prosecution moved to dismiss charge after victim accepted $120 after charges filed and defendant arrested. Judge to review.

Rovante Jenkins, 19, charged with aggravated assault other means. Case bound over to a grand jury after preliminary hearing held. Out on bond.

Wednesday, Jan. 9:

Cedrick Lawrence Jones, 38, pleaded no contest to simple assault. Sentenced to 30 days with two days suspended for one year pending good behavior. To serve 28 days in jail. Fine set at $494.

Graham Donnell Clifton, 20, pleaded guilty to under 21 or allowing under 21 to be on gambling boat. Sentenced to 10 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Fine set at $394.

John Christopher Black, 49, pleaded guilty to under 21 or allowing under 21 to be on gambling boat. Sentenced to 10 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. Fine set at $394.

Damone R. Johnson Jr., 22, pleaded guilty to shoplifting — first offense. Sentenced to 30 days with 29 days suspended for one year pending good behavior. To serve 24 hours in jail. Fine set at $444.
