McCoys lead Trinity boys in big win vs. Centreville

CENTREVILLE — Tommy McCoy led Trinity Episcopal with a game-high 18 points while Dre McCoy recorded a double-double to lead the Saints to a 63-17 win over the Centreville Academy Tigers Saturday afternoon.

Dre McCoy scored 16 points and 11 rebounds. Four players ended up scoring in double figures for Trinity Episcopal, which improved to 14-5 on the season. Garrett Vinson and Brandon Brooks each contributed with 10 points.

Jake Darden, who has been Centreville’s leading scorer for much of the season, was unable to get off the blocks against Trinity’s defense and finished with five points. Colton Terrell was the Tigers’ leading scorer with six points.

The Saints also held the Tigers to single-digit scoring in all four quarters. The eight points Centreville scored in the first quarter was the team’s highest point total. From there it was 4, 3, and 2 points, respectively.

Trinity led Centreville 16-8 at the end of the first quarter and when halftime arrived, the Saints had a commanding 34-12 lead.

The Saints will be at home Tuesday night when they take on Brookhaven Academy in MAIS District 5-AA action.

CENTREVILLE — Tori Rouse led all scorers with 16 points and Charlsey Stark added 12 points as the Centreville Academy Lady Tigers rolled past the Trinity Episcopal Lady Saints Saturday afternoon.

Centreville held Trinity scoreless in the first quarter en route to a 10-0 lead and held a 14-4 advantage at halftime. The third quarter is when the Lady Tigers put the game out of reach as they outscored the Lady Saints 19-2 for a 33-6 lead.

The Lady Saints had just three players reach the scoring column. Sloane Young led them with nine points while Marty Lewis had four points and Tali Beard had two points.

Trinity Episcopal (0-17) hosts Brookhaven Academy in a District 5-AA game Tuesday night.
