NATCHEZ — Services for Leona M. Pettis, 79, of Natchez, who died Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mercy Seat Baptist Church with the Rev. Walter Sago officiating.

Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and from noon until service time Saturday at the church.

Mrs. Pettis was born Aug. 4, 1933, in Natchez, the daughter of Norman King and Ellen Scott King. She was a member of Mercy Seat Baptist Church and served on the Mother’s Board.

Mrs. Pettis was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Geneva King; three brothers, Norman, Robert and Henry King; and one daughter, Geneva Pettis Williams.

Survivors include three sons, Isaac Jones Jr. of Natchez, Albert Jones and wife, Gloria, of Tavares, Fla., and Lionel Jones Sr. and wife, Shirleane, of Vidalia; four daughters, Jennie Ruth Griffin and husband, Charles, of Natchez, Jennie Mae Banks and husband, Jesse, of Los Angeles, Geraldine Jones Smart and husband, Gregory, of Mesquite, Texas and Lorraine James and husband, Donnie, of Norwalk, Calif.; and a number of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons.
