Prep baseball roundups: Chavin has strong performance as Cathedral tops Wesson

MEADVILLE — Austin Chauvin gave up no earned runs on two hits in three innings as the Cathedral Green Wave rolled to a 12-2 win over the Wesson Cobras in four innings Thursday night at the Franklin County Tournament.

Cathedral was the visiting team in this game and quickly jumped out to a 4-0 in the top of the first inning. Wesson scored an unearned run off Chauvin in the bottom of the first before the Green Wave put the game away with four runs in the top of the second and four more in the top of the fourth.

Andrew Beesley went 2-for-2 with a double, Ty Brown was 2-for-3 and Chauvin helped his own cause with a double. Cathedral (2-1) plays its second and final game of the tournament at 6 p.m. today against Hazlehurst.

Vidalia 6, Bolton 5

VIDALIA — Thomas Sandifer went 2-for-4 with a double and Dillon Parnham pitched a scoreless seventh inning to pick up the save as the Vidalia Vikings rallied to defeat the Bolton Bears Thursday night.

William Anderson pitched five solid innings to get the win as he allowed two runs on five hits with four strikeouts and four walks. Parnham came on in relief for the final two innings and in the top of the sixth he allowed three runs that turned a 4-2 Vidalia lead into a 5-4 Bolton lead.

But the Vikings answered with two runs in the sixth to reclaim the lead. Vidalia (1-2) takes on Monterey at 4 p.m. today at the Monterey Tournament.
