TERRY — Nick Wilson pitched a complete-game four-hitter and struck out 15 batters as the Terry Bulldogs defeated the Natchez High Bulldogs 10-0 in six innings Tuesday afternoon in MHSAA Region 6-6A action.

After a scoreless first inning, Terry struck for four runs in the bottom of the second inning and four more in the bottom of the third inning. But the host Bulldogs, the seventh-ranked team in the latest Clarion-Ledger MHSAA poll, were not able to run-rule the visiting Bulldogs until they scored two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Derrian Johnson took the loss after giving up eight runs, seven of them earned, on four hits and four walks in three and one-third innings. Jadarrius Williams came on in relief and allowed two earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts and two walks.

Terry was led at the plate by Patrick Hodges, who went 3-for-3 with two doubles, and Rickey Cotton, who was 2-for-3 with a double.

Natchez High (4-7, 2-4) next plays at 7 p.m. Friday for a home game against Cathedral at Chester Willis Field.

Monterey 2, Oak Hill 1

MONTEREY — After giving up one run in the top of the first inning, Hunter Frey pitched five straight scoreless innings as the Monterey Wolves rallied late to defeat the Oak Hill Rams Tuesday afternoon to remain undefeated in LHSAA District 4-B.

Frey did have his struggles on the mound at times as he walked six batters over six innings of work. But he limited Oak Hill to just three hits, struck out four batters and got plenty of help from a Monterey defense that did not commit a single error.

After being shut out through three innings by Rams pitcher Austin Thompson, the Wolves finally broke through on a solo home run by Jake Cooper in the bottom of the fourth inning. Then with two outs in the bottom of the sixth, a throwing error allowed Jake Barlow to score from third base with proved to be the game-winning run. Barlow went 2-for-3 at the plate.

Monterey (13-4, 4-0) next plays at noon Saturday at Harrisonburg.

Centreville Academy 1, Silliman Institute 0

CENTREVILLE — Randy Bell hit a one-out triple and scored on a wild-pitch in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Centreville Academy Tigers defeated the Silliman Institute Wildcats Tuesday afternoon in an MAIS District 6-AA game.

Bell also ended up being the winning pitcher. He struck out three in one and a third scoreless and hitless innings. Colby Shaw started for Centreville, the No. 5 team in the latest Clarion-Ledger MAIS poll, and gave up four hits, struck out 10 batters, walked three and hit one batter in six and two-thirds innings.

Silliman’s Jordan Talley took the loss despite a strong performance on the mound prior to the eighth inning. He ended up allowing no earned runs on four hits, struck out nine, walked three and hit three batters.

Centreville (11-3, 7-3) has a varsity doubleheader starting at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at Silliman Institute.
