NATCHEZ — Sunny skies and mild temperatures should make perfect weather for a few outdoor events, all for good causes, topping off this weekend.

ACCS Spring Fling Carnival

Those looking to bounce, slide or even joust their way to a good time can stop by Adams County Christian School’s annual Spring Fling Carnival.

Gates will be open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Saturday at the school’s football stadium, where carnival-goers can buy $1 tickets for a bungee trampoline, boxing, jousting, basketball toss, Slip ‘n Slide, carnival games, Walk on Water balls, arts and crafts, jumping houses, a children’s train, a dunking booth and other activities.

Live music will be in the gym, and a co-ed softball tournament will start at 8 a.m. Anyone wishing to participate in the game can call Leigh Ann Mason at ACCS at 601-442-1422.

The Natchez Police Department will also have a K-9 dog demonstration.

Concessions will also be sold, including crawfish and snowballs.

The Natchez-Adams County Humane Society will also have pets available for adoption.

ACCS will be selling brisket dinners at 6 p.m. Friday in the gym. A silent, and a live auction will follow at 6:30 p.m. and will feature gift baskets put together by ACCS classes, bow fishing trips, patio furniture and other items.

A four-wheeler is also up for grabs, with raffle tickets available for $25 at ACCS today and tomorrow.

All proceeds from the carnival events will benefit ACCS’ academics, organizer Stephanie Martin said.

“This is a good, fun atmosphere, and we just want to get people out to have a good time,” she said. “It’ll be good, family, Christian fun.”

First Baptist Church of Vidalia Relay for Life garage sale

First Baptist Church of Vidalia is hosting a garage sale at 1005 Alabama St. to raise money for Relay for Life.

Organizer and two-time cancer survivor Bettye Lindeman said the sale will feature baked goods, a sofa, chairs, outdoor wicker furniture, a gas grill, clarinets and a variety of household items.

The church hosts three or four garage sales each year to benefit Relay for Life, Lindeman said.

“Every penny goes to Relay,” she said. “We’re trying to do whatever we can to help the cause.”

Jefferson Street United Methodist Church community-wide sale

The ladies of Jefferson Street United Methodist Church are hosting a community-wide sale from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday at the church.

The sale aims not only to raise funds for the church’s mission work but to bolster profits for local vendors, in turn propping up the local economy, organizer Millicent Mayo said.

Vendors will be selling glass goods, wooden bowls, art, furniture, china, plants, dolls, books and clothing. Booths will also include Silpada jewelry, Melissa Vaughan jewelry, Rodan + Fields skin care products, Scentsy candles and other items.

Vendors will have booths set up inside the church’s family life center and also outside the church.

Hotdogs, chips and other concessions will also be sold.

Southern Road to Freedom

Members of the Holy Family Catholic Church Gospel Choir will bring history to life in the dim lights of the historic Holy Family Catholic Church on the corner of St. Catherine Street and Orange Avenue.

Spring Pilgrimage’s final performances of “Southern Road to Freedom” will be at 8 p.m. every Thursday, Saturday and Tuesday.

Tickets are $15 per person and are available at Natchez Pilgrimage Tours, located in the Natchez Visitor Reception Center or at the door on the night of the performance.

Southern Exposure

Natchez Little Theatre’s traditional Pilgrimage season play, “Southern Exposure,” will continue at 7:30 p.m. today, Saturday and Sunday, with Pilgrimage’s final performance Tuesday.

Tickets for performances are $15.

The box office opens one hour before each performance begins.

Historic Natchez Tableaux

Pilgrimage’s final performances of the Historic Natchez Tableaux will be at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the City Auditorium.

Organized and orchestrated by volunteers with the Natchez Garden Club and Pilgrimage Garden Club, the tableaux is a treat for visitors and locals who enjoy learning more about history in a setting that includes beautiful costumes and staging.

Tickets are $15 per person, with children admitted for $7. Advance tickets and reservations are available at Natchez Pilgrimage Tours in the Visitor Reception Center.
