Alcorn’s Dania awarded for paper on investing

LORMAN — Alcorn State University School of Business faculty, Dr. Akash Dania’s research paper titled “Examining Performance of Socially Responsible Investing: Case of Faith Based Compliance” was awarded the McGraw-Hill/Irwin Distinguished Paper Award in International Business studies at the recent 2013 Federation of Business Discipline conference in Albuquerque, N.M.

The awarded research paper focuses on topic of analyzing returns performance of Socially Responsible Investing, i.e. investors who seek to align their investment strategies with ethical, moral, social and environmental consequences of their investment decision.

At the beginning of 2010, professionally managed assets following SRI strategies stood at $3.07 trillion. However, very little is known about the returns performance and behavior of such funds.

Dania is an assistant professor of finance at the Alcorn State University School of Business and primarily teaches MBA classes at the University’s Graduate Business Program in Natchez.
