DEVILLE, La. — Blake Buller hit for the cycle to lead Buckeye’s 14-hit barrage as the Panthers defeated the Vidalia Vikings 13-3 in six innings in an LHSAA District 3-3A game Monday afternoon.

It was a rough go on the mound for Vidalia pitcher Korey Henson. He gave up 13 runs, seven earned, on 14 hits and four walks in five and two-thirds innings. And the defense behind him didn’t help out as the Vikings committed four errors.

Tyler Sandifer had most of Vidalia’s offense as he went 2-for-3, including a two-run single in the top of the second inning that actually gave the Vikings a 2-1 lead before Buckeye took the lead for good with four runs in the bottom of the second.

The Panthers added four runs in the bottom of the fourth to go up 9-2. The Vikings scored one run in the top of the fifth to make it a 9-3 game. Buckeye got that run back in the bottom of the fifth and ended the game early with three runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Vidalia (11-9, 3-5) plays at 4 p.m. today at Harrisonburg.

LaSalle 12, Block 1

JONESVILLE — Cole Hendlix was too tough for Block to handle both on the mound and at the plate in leading the LaSalle Tigers past the Bears in five innings Monday afternoon in LHSAA District 4-1A action.

Hendlix allowed one unearned run on two hits with six strikeouts and four walks. He pitched four straight innings of shutout ball until Block finally got on the board in the bottom of the fifth inning. Hendlix also went 3-for-4, including a three-run home run in the top of the first inning.

The only run Block scored was in the bottom of the fifth inning. But by that time, the Bears were down 12-0 and the game ended early due to the 10-runs-after-five-innings mercy rule.

Block (7-13, 1-6) has a home game at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday against Harrisonburg.
