VIDALIA — The Concordia Parish Police Jury wants to find the cause of two recent dips in the surface of Airport Road.

Police Jury President Melvin Ferrington said the foundation apparently sank in two places on the road.

Approximately three-quarters of a mile of Airport Road recently was reconstructed, and Ferrington said the two spots have appeared in the area where the reconstruction began.

The police jury discussed the road problems at its Monday meeting, Ferrington said, and decided to have the parish’s contracted engineering firm, Jordan, Kaiser & Sessions, and the project contractor, Camo Construction, investigate the cause of the dips.

All of the work, Ferrington said, is still under warranty. He said until the root of the problem is found, he cannot estimate a cost to repair the dips.

In other news from the meeting:

– The board turned over consideration of a franchise ordinance agreement with AT&T for Internet, phone and TV service to the tax, license and airport committee, Ferrington said.

The agreement would allow AT&T to provide service to parish residents. Ferrington said the parish will keep its current agreement with Charter, and AT&T will just be another option residents have.

The tax, license and airport committee will bring a recommendation to the police jury at the jury’s next meeting.
