NATCHEZ — Funeral services for Joyce Houston, 57, of Natchez, who died Friday, May 3, 2013 at Select Specialty Hospital in Jackson, will be 11 a.m. Monday at Pilgrim Baptist Church in Natchez with the Rev. Walter L. Smith Sr. officiating.

Burial will follow at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Bateaste Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home, and 10 a.m. Monday.

Mrs. Houston was born Feb. 29,1956 in Natchez to Alfred Washington and Emma Day. She was a choir member at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Worth Edward and Mary Day, and two sons, Adam Washington and Danny Houston Jr.

Survivors include a loving and devoted husband, Danny Houston; four children, Marison Thornburg and wife, Manika, Diana Thomas and husband, Rodney and Claudette Roby and husband, Justin, all of Vicksburg, and Whitney Houston and husband, Davin, of Natchez; thirteen grandchildren, Joycelyn Morris, Jessica Morris, Jasmine Thornburg, Jalecia Morris, Jakayla Roby, all of Vicksburg, JaKel Brown of Natchez, Justin Roby, Jarrod Thomas, Rodney Thomas Jr., Kamarion Johnson, Jameelah Ross, Maurice Burnam and Myeshia Burnam, all of Vicksburg; five sisters, Estella Goulden, Alline Thompson and Sandra Williams, all of Houston, Patricia White and husband, Bobbie, of Centreville and Thomastine Washington and husband, Jerry, of Woodville; six brothers, John E. Washington and wife, Flotie, of Natchez, Julius Washington of Gloster, Joe Nathan Washington and wife, Christine, Thomas Washington and wife, Tiffany, Darrius Washington and wife, Irma, all of Centreville, and George Washington and wife, Martha, of Houston; one step-sister, Maggie Brady and husband, Red, of Chicago; two step-brothers, Willie J. Washington of Seattle and Frank Hill and wife, Pearline, of Natchez; two aunts, Bobbie Jean Day of Galveston, Texas and Lola Robinson and husband, Tom, of Baton Rouge; one uncle, Earl Day and wife, Dean, of Ferriday; and a number of nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be Lethal Joshua, Mike Jones, Martin Houston, David Houston, Ray Houston and George Brooks.
