Prep softball: ACCS falls to Silliman, Centreville tops CP

CLINTON, La. — The Adams County Christian School Lady Rebels couldn’t get anything going against the Silliman Institute Lady Wildcats Monday night in a 10-0 loss to the preseason No. 1 team in MAIS Class AA.

ACCS was held to just three hits in the five-inning contest. On the other hand, Silliman took control of the game early by scoring five runs in the bottom of the first inning. The Lady Wildcats added two runs in the bottom of the second and three in the bottom of the third.

Brooke Runnels took the loss after allowing 10 runs in three innings. Taylor Perkins came on in relief and pitched a scoreless fourth inning.

ACCS (4-1) has a 4:45 p.m. game today at home against Central Hinds Academy in its MAIS District 5-AA opener.

Centreville Academy 4, Central Private 3

CENTREVILLE — Laramie Greer hit a walk-off triple in the bottom of the seventh inning to not only give Centreville Academy its first win in MAIS District 6-AA, but its first win of the season.

Amanda Brown, who went 2-for-4 for the game, led off the bottom of the seventh with a single and scored on Greer’s game-winning hit after the Lady Tigers blew an early 3-0 lead. Centreville had nine hits in the game, but it almost wasn’t enough.

Central Private scored one run in the top of the third inning and two in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 3-3. Centreville scored its first three runs in the bottom of the first.

McKenzie Tarver went the distance and allowed one earned run on three hits and five walks with four strikeouts. Sydnie Lyons also went 2-for-4 for the Lady Tigers.

Centreville Academy (1-5, 1-0) plays at 7:15 p.m. Thursday at Silliman Institute.
