NATCHEZ — A Natchez man was arrested Friday after leading police on a chase when Metro Narcotics agents attempted to arrest him in an undercover operation.

The agents reportedly purchased approximately one half-pound of marijuana from Daniel Walk, 29, 315-B Dumas Drive, in the parking lot of Sports Center next to Natchez High School, according to an ACSO press release.

Sheriff Chuck Mayfield and Metro Narcotics Commander David Lindsey reportedly attempted to stop Walk in the parking lot where the transaction occurred. Walk reportedly refused to stop and fled from the scene in a blue van.

Mayfield, Lindsey and other metro agents reportedly chased Walk as he fled. An attempt to box-in the suspect on Seargent Prentiss Drive was prohibited by traffic. The chase continued to Lynda Lee Drive, Triumph Lane and into the Maryland Heights Subdivision.

Agents were finally able to box Walk in after he struck a metro vehicle with his van. He then reportedly attempted to flee on foot and was arrested at his residence.

Walk was charged with sale of schedule I controlled substance (marijuana) within 1,500 feet of a school, failure to yield, reckless driving, felony fleeing arrest, aggravated assault and resisting arrest.

This is Walk’s second arrest in Adams County. He was arrested on a drug-related charge in September 2012.
