VIDALIA — The Vidalia Police Department is investigating an alleged rape that occurred earlier this month between two juveniles.

Vidalia Police Chief Arthur Lewis said the two juveniles were riding the school bus home together on Oct. 4.

After the two got off the bus together, the male suspect allegedly pulled the female suspect into the bushes and raped her before telling her to run home, Lewis said.

VPD officers arrested the suspect Oct. 5 after a complaint was filed.

The suspect, Lewis said, is being detained at a juvenile facility in Ascension Parish until his court hearing Oct. 31.

The names of the suspect and victim, Lewis said, can’t be released because of their ages.

Lewis said the case remains under investigation.
