VIDALIA — The Concordia Parish Police Jury voted Monday to send a letter to the district attorney’s office after a police juror expressed an opinion the office wasn’t moving quickly enough on a matter of concern for him.

Police Juror Willie Dunbar said the district attorney’s office has not gotten back with the police jury about a parish resident who built an expansion on a building without a permit earlier this year.

Since the jury first requested the district attorney’s office’s action, the resident has made a second unpermitted expansion, Dunbar said.

“It is not fair with the rest of the parish, if they want to add on to a building to have to get a permit, but if (the resident in question) wants to build, he just builds,” Dunbar said. “If the district attorney doesn’t want to handle the situation, he needs to let us know, and we need to find out how to handle the situation.”

Juror Tommie “Red” Tiffee said he would speak with District Attorney Brad Burget about the matter. “We don’t need to go over his head,” Tiffee said.
