Christmas home tour aids library

No “Bah Humbugs” will be allowed at Friends of the Library Christmas Tour of Homes from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday.

We guarantee to get you in the holiday spirit and in the mood to “trim the halls.”

These five beautifully decorated homes are seldom open to the public. Tickets are $15 for one or $25 for two and can be purchased in advance at the Library, Natchez Pilgrimage Tours at the Visitor’s Center and at any home on Sunday.

Once again, a huge thank-you goes to Mimi Miller for her assistance in providing detailed histories of these homes.

As always, these homes tell rich and varied stories of Natchez from the 1800s through the 1900s and bring memories of many well-known Natchez families.

Many of us remember Ms. Rose Carkeet fondly as our teacher.

Her house is now the home of John and Susan Hudson.

The Isler house history reads like a Who’s Who of Natchez history and today is the home of Stepanie and Robin Punches. (Rumor says these two houses feature amazing Christmas villages!)

And, all ladies of a certain age remember shopping at Tot, Teen, and Mom, now the home of the Rodriguez family and the refreshment center.

Holly Hedges, home of Alan Kotchek, dates back to the Spanish era.

The home of Keith Karlson and Al Walker has gone through multiple transitions and features an amazing collection of artwork.

They are also graciously opening the “Little Brick” that was once home to the Daughters of the Confederacy. (So we really have five and a half houses!)

All proceeds support library programs. Get into the holiday spirit and help a good cause.

There are many things going on this weekend, so put on your fast track shoes and support all the groups.

Tour the homes, have dinner downtown and enjoy the Alcorn Choir.
