NATCHEZ — Not a single player on Cathedral School’s boys’ basketball roster scored in double figures and yet the Green Wave was still able to defeat the Mississippi School for the Deaf Bulldogs 55-29 Monday night in its MHSAA Division 7-1A opener.

Marques Vickers of Mississippi School for the Deaf was the only player to reach double digits in scoring as he lead all players with 14 points. However, only three other Bulldogs players reached the scoring column.

So how did Cathedral end up winning the game by 26 points with Ishmael Blackmon leading the Green Wave in scoring with just seven points? All 17 players on the roster scored at least two points. James Coley, Conner Mire and Will Wallace had six points each. The Green Wave jumped out to a 23-2 lead after one quarter of play and never looked back.
