NATCHEZ — Natchez native Rob Kuehnle, using the pseudonym “Ashton Lee,” is writing a series of novels being published by the New York publishing company Kensington Books.

Kuehnle will introduce the series from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Turning Pages Books on Franklin Street.

Through the theme “The Cherry Cola Book Club” Kuehnle champions the need for more public support — monetary and physical — of libraries. Creating the fictional Mississippi small town of Cherico, he presents the typical patron-depleted, funds- shorted and understaffed public library.

After receiving an ultimatum from the Cherico City Council, young librarian Maura Beth Mayhew is desperate to raise money.

She founds the Cherry Cola Book Club and starts the campaign to save the library and the job she loves. So begins the entertaining events with an unpredictable cast of characters that create a colorful, humorous southern novel.

Kuehnle was raised in Natchez, where many friends and relatives remain. He makes his home in Oxford.

Refreshments will be served at this “Second Saturday” event.
