Rebels win Super Regionals, advance to College World Series

LAFAYETTE, La. — Ole Miss is headed to the College World Series for the first time in over 40 years as the Rebels defeated Louisiana-Lafayette 10-4 in Monday’s NCAA Super Regional at Lafayette, La.

Ole Miss won the best-of-3 series, winning on Sunday and Monday night.

Holt Perdzock’s two-run double highlighted a four-run ninth inning as Ole Miss broke open a tight game.

ULL had just scored a run in the bottom of the seventh and had the tying run thrown out at the plate in shaving the Rebels’ lead to 5-4. But that would be as close as the ULL would get.

Ole Miss scored on a Matt Plitt wild pitch in the fifth and added a RBI double by Auston Bousfield in the sixth to take 5-3 lead.

The game was tied at 3-3 when ULL pitchers began to struggle with their control, and ULL used three relief pitchers in the fifth.

In the sixth, Bousfield hit a RBI double to up the lead to 5-3.

Austin Anderson and Sikes Orvis each hit home runs over the right field wall in the top of the fourth inning to stake Ole Miss to a 3-1 lead.

Anderson hit a two-run homer after Bousfield hit a double. Then Orvis hit a solo shot.

ULL scored two runs, capped by Ryan Leonards’ RBI double, to tie the game in their half of the fourth

Tyler Girouard hit a sacrifice fly to left to score Leonards as ULL took a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Leonards had doubled to get the rally started in the third.
