NATCHEZ — Jamarion and Jordan Myles never imagined they would be walking the red carpet or signing autographs.

This weekend, however, the twin brothers did just that.

Saturday, at the Natchez Mall Theater, a premiere of “Get On Up” drew hundreds to benefit the Natchez Adams-County Humane Society.

Before hitting the carpet, the twin brothers were full of anticipation.

“I’ve never been on a red carpet before,” Jordan said. “I’m excited.”

The Myles brothers are rising actors, and their debut role was as  young James Brown in “Get On Up,” a biographical movie that chronicles the life of the Godfather of Soul from age 5 to 60.

Portions of the movie, which was directed by Mississippian Tate Taylor, were filmed throughout Natchez and the surrounding areas.

The boys were picked by a casting crewmember after she stopped off at their day care before filming began.

After a short audition at The Malt Shop, in which Jamarion was asked to cry, the brothers were cast for the film.

Jordan and Jamarion have fond memories of the cast and crew and of the filming process.

“I had to lay in the bed,” Jamarion said. “It was comfy. I was fixing to fall asleep. And one time Mr. Lennie (James) had to pick me up and put me on the counter, and I kept laughing.”

After gaining such memories, the boys were excited to see the movie, particularly after seeing themselves in trailers that were released prior to the premiere.

Being a part of “Get On Up” has inspired Jordan and Jamarion to pursue a career in acting.

“I love being on TV,” Jamarion said. “I want to be an actor.”

Jordan and Jamarion’s mother, Sharonica Myles, is proud of her sons’ achievements and plans to support them if they do indeed decide to follow their dreams of acting.

“I’m supportive of whatever they want to do,” Sharonica said. “If it’s something they want to continue to do, I am behind them.”

The twins both have a love for action and super hero movies. They would also like to voice characters in a “Lego Movie.”

The twins weren’t expecting to be seen on screen much, but were excited for whatever screen time they may get.

“They’ll probably just show a lot of Chad (Boseman),” Jordan said. “I don’t think we’ll be in it as much. When we are, I’ll probably shout, ‘Mama! Mama! That’s me!’”

Producer John Norris looked forward to seeing the twins’ reaction to the movie and how much screen time they received.

“Jordan and Jamarion are all over the movie,” Norris said. “I think people will be surprised at how much they are actually in the movie. Seeing those two boys’ faces when they see the movie, that’s what I’m looking forward to. I’m going to be watching them the whole time just to see their faces.”

The twins will attend today’s premiere of the movie in Jackson as well.
