NATCHEZ — Magnolia Bluffs Casino reopened at 11:20 p.m. Wednesday after a glitch in the facility’s surveillance equipment was repaired.

The system malfunction, Magnolia Bluffs Casino President Kevin Preston said, started at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday and led to a quick call to the Mississippi Gaming Commission.

“We didn’t want to have anything compromised with security at the facility, so we did what we had to do to make sure we could have everything back up and running before we reopened,” Preston said. “We apologize to all our guests that were inconvenienced, but security is absolutely the backbone of our operation.”

The gaming commission was in Natchez Wednesday to monitor the situation and keep patrons out of the casino while the situation was resolved.

Preston said the problem was not something casino management could have prevented.

“It was just one of those glitches in the system that you can’t plan for, but have to work through when they happen,” Preston said. “We had some parts running correctly throughout the day, but we needed to make sure everything was functioning before we reopened.”
