MEADVILLE — Funeral services for Martha B. Buckels, 85, of Jefferson County, who died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at the Meadville Convalescent Home, will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethesda Baptist Church in Jefferson County with the Rev. Burt Brown officiating.

Burial will follow at Fayette Cemetery under the direction of Franklin Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the church.

Mrs. Buckels was born Oct. 29, 1928, the daughter of Angus McNair and Thelma Lou Curtis Brown.

She was a member of Fayette Baptist Church and also attended Bethesda Baptist Church. She loved to visit with her family, who she loved deeply. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Buckels was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John Morgan Buckles; son, John Bennett Buckels; brother, Doc Brown Jr., grandson, little Joe Smith; and great-grandson, Riley Joe Smith.

Survivors include son Larry Buckels of Jefferson County; daughter, Marilyn Buckels Smith and husband, Joe K., of Jefferson County; sisters, Mary Brown Bush and Nell Brown; brothers, Hugh Brown and Bobby Stubbs; four grandchildren; eight grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and friends.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Williams, Luke Williams, Leon Bennett, Josh Smith, Robby Swearingen and Adam Purser.

Honorary pallbearers are Hugh Brown, Bobby Stubbs and Rayford Smith.
