Alcohol suspected in fatal vehicle crash

FERRIDAY — A Ferriday man is dead and two juveniles were injured as a result of a Friday night vehicle accident in which alcohol is suspected to have been a factor.

William K. Loomis, 50, was pronounced dead, Louisiana State Police said. The two juveniles in his vehicle were transported to Riverland Medical Center with minor to moderate injuries.

Neither Loomis nor his passengers were wearing seat belts.

A 2002 Chevrolet pickup driven by Patrick R. Krueger, 34, of Natchez, who was not injured, crossed the centerline on Louisiana 568 and collided with Loomis’ 2005 Toyota Corolla.

Krueger is suspected of driving while impaired and was charged with DWI, open container and careless operation. Other charges are pending, state police said.

Krueger was wearing his seat belt.

State police responded to the scene, east of Louisiana 900, at approximately 7:30 p.m.

Krueger was traveling east on Louisiana 568 when he reportedly lost control. Loomis was traveling west.
