NATCHEZ — As Adams County Christian prepares to open the 2014 MAIS AA playoffs Friday night, their opponent is familiar, but not as familiar as they could be.

Prentiss Christian (7-4) will come to Natchez to take on the Rebels (9-1), a matchup that was scheduled for earlier in the season, but postponed due to a tragedy at Prentiss Christian.

With a complete game plan under his belt from earlier in the year, and another week to prepare, ACCS head coach David King said he feels good about his team’s chances Friday.

“We’ve seen about anything everyone has so far,” King said. “I feel good about where we are.”

But he has noticed some differences on film from earlier in the year to more recently for the Saints.

“The thing that jumps out is they are running some more misdirection stuff,” said King of the Prentiss Christian offense. “We are an aggressive defense and that could pose some problems for us.”

That aggressive style is also what King expects the Saints to show the Rebels on the other side of the ball.

“They like to blitz and stunt and will press the issue,” he said.

King said he has been pleased with the way his team has practiced so far this week, and that they are taking a clean-slate approach into postseason play.

“We are 0-0 and it is one and done,” King said. “Every game is the most important game. Everybody is quality, and there has to be a want and a desire to keep the season going. I look for us to play a good football game.”

ACCS will have the home field advantage after clinching the No. 2 seed, and King believes it will play an advantage for the Rebels.

ACCS and Prentiss Christian are set for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
