Chris Scott threw six touchdown passes and ran for another as the Natchez High School Bulldogs ended their season on a high note with a 44-12 win over the Wingfield High School Falcons Thursday night.

John Ferguson finished with over 100 rushing yards and had two receiving touchdowns. Sidney Davis had over 100 receiver yards with two touchdowns. Travion McDuffie also found his way into the end zone once as he was on the receiving end of a Scott TD pass.

“I think our style matched up against theirs,” Natchez High head coach Melvin Pete said.

Ferguson’s rushing output put him over 1,000 rushing yards for the season.

“We were pretty pleased (with Scott) tonight. He was able to throw six touchdowns tonight. The process is very slow on his end. He wants to speed it up. We’ve got to remember now it’s down to three years,” Pete said.

Even though the final score looked one-sided, it was anything but that in the first half. The Bulldogs were only up 16-12 at halftime before outscoring the Falcons 28-0 in the second half to pull away for the victory. Pete added that he was pleased with how the defense rose to the occasion and shut out Wingfield in the second half.

“We’re trying to build for the future. I was pretty pleased with the way we responded in the second half,” Pete said. “We just got off to a slow start. We were just sluggish.”

Natchez High finished 5-6 overall and 2-5 in MHSAA Region 3-5A. Wingfield ended up 1-10 overall and 0-7 in region play.
