FERRIDAY — Funeral services for Minnie Sanders Burks, 78, of Ferriday, who died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, at Riverland Medical Center in Ferriday, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at New Morning Star Baptist Church in Ferriday with the Rec. Danny Lewis officiating.

Burial will follow at Ferriday Cemetery under the direction of Concordia Funeral Home, Inc.

Burks was born on Nov. 30, 1936, the daughter of George Sanders and Rowena Jackson.

Burks was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Almeda Hunter and Hazel Billups.

Survivors include two sons, Kari Burks of Ferriday and Willie Burks Jr. and wife, Lillie, of Kenner; two daughters, Marilyn “Rose” Gordon and husband, Sylvester, of Ferriday and Aundra Rhodes and husband, Gregory, of Houston; brother, Sam Sanders, of Houston; and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
