NATCHEZ — Adams County Sheriff’s Office Dispatchers Cheryl Havard and Artimise Evans recently earned a certificate of completion for a 16-hour middle management course offered by Public Safety Academics and Consulting.

The course —“active shooter, workplace violence for public safety dispatchers” — is designed to prepare the dispatcher to react in a timely and professional manner and to provide them with confidence to handle critical incidents.

The instruction included lessons learned from current plans of action so that dispatchers can prepare to handle such an event, Havard said.

“The material is reinforced through classroom interaction and role playing in scenarios based on current events, and that was very helpful,” Evans said. “I enjoyed the way the instructor made it easy to understand–the stories and especially the scenarios really enhanced the class.”
