NATCHEZ — A Louisiana man was arrested on charges he pistol-whipped and robbed a man in the Washington area.

Bobby Ray Rutherford, 55, 43264 Moody Dixon Road, Prarieville, La., was arrested Thursday on a warrant on charges of aggravated assault (manifesting extreme indifference) and armed robbery.

Adams County Sheriff Chuck Mayfield said the incident happened late last year, when Rutherford allegedly broke into a Washington-area residence, beat the resident with a pistol and stole a number of items.

The suspect was in jail in Ascension Parish in Louisiana when the Adams County Sheriff’s Office picked him up.

Ruthorford was detained on a $100,000 bond.
