Block Bears shut out 46-0

NATCHITOCHES, La. — St. Mary’s High School scored three touchdowns on offense, two on defense and two on special teams as the top-ranked Tigers cruised to a 46-0 win over the Block High School Bears Friday night in an LHSAA District 3-1A game.

The game was played at Turpin Stadium on the campus of Northwestern State University in Natchitoches and St. Mary’s took advantage of one miscue after another by Block to remain undefeated and win the district championship outright.

Hickman scored on a 33-yard punt return and he threw a 33-yard touchdown pass to Bailey Shelton in the first quarter. Drake Hale scored on a 30-yard punt return and his two-point conversion catch gave the Tigers a 20-0 lead late in the opening quarter.

Shelton then scored on a 54-yard defensive touchdown to make it a 26-0 game at halftime in favor of St. Mary’s (10-0, 5-0). Aaron Howell had a touchdown pass in the third quarter and a touchdown run late in the fourth quarter.

Sandwiched in the middle of those two touchdowns was a 6-yard defensive touchdown by Nick Miller early in the fourth quarter.
