NATCHEZ — Despite being short some players due to playoff football, the Wilkinson County Wildcats were able to get past Trinity Episcopal Day School, 69-42 Tuesday night.

“The ones that played, played a good game,” Wilkinson County head coach Julius Anderson said. “They are inexperienced, but to play the way they did showed they have developed.”

LaHendrick Bruster led all scorers with 37 points for Wilkinson County, and Anderson said he was pleased with the senior’s performance.

“He had a great night,” Anderson said. “He is a senior trying to keep the team together. He started off trying to make sure everybody was involved in the game, but when he had to take over, he did.”

Tyree Miles was the second leading scorer for the Wildcats with 15 points.

Anderson said he knew his team was ready to play heading into the matchup.

“They are really excited to be able to play and compete again,” he said. “They were anxious all summer to get back in the gym, and I could tell from the opening tip they came ready to compete.”

For Trinity, David Jackson and Kevontaye Caston led the charge with 15 points apiece. Demond Fleming and Jakarius Caston contributed with five and four points, respectively.
