Local high school games canceled

NATCHEZ — The threat for heavy rain and severe thunderstorms on Tuesday evening forced several local and area basketball games to either be postponed or cancelled.

Natchez High School’s games at Wilkinson County High School were postponed and will be rescheduled for today at 5 p.m. Also, the Lady Bulldogs of Natchez High will take on Murrah High School at 3 p.m. Saturday at Forest Hill High School as part of the JPS Thanksgiving Tournament, head coach Alphaka Moore said.

Adams County Christian School’s junior varsity and varsity games at Riverfield Academy in Rayville, La. have been postponed until Thursday at 3 p.m.

Delta Charter School was scheduled to host Port Gibson High School. But the impending inclement forced Ron Ellis, who coaches both the varsity girls and varsity boys’ teams at Delta Charter, to postpone the games. The two schools will play three games today at 5 p.m. at Port Gibson, starting with the junior varsity boys’ game followed by the two varsity games.

Vidalia High School’s regular-season and home opener against Sicily Island High School have been cancelled. No make-up date has been announced. The Vikings will host Ferriday High School Friday night for three games beginning at 5 p.m.

Franklin County High School’s three-game set at West Lincoln High School near Brookhaven has been cancelled. No make-up date has been announced. Franklin County will play host to North Pike High School Friday night for three games starting at 5 p.m.

Ferriday’s games at Tensas High School at St. Joseph, La., were postponed to today at 5p.m.

Jefferson County High School’s games at Crystal Springs High Schools were also postponed to today at 5 p.m.
