EFFERSON COUNTY — Graveside services for Fielding Holmes, 79, of Monroe, La., formerly of Natchez, who died Monday, Feb. 28, 2011, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at noon Thursday at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Jefferson County with the Rev. Aaron Lamb officiating.

Burial will follow under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Holmes was born Dec. 21, 1931, in Natchez, the son of Leslie Holmes and Stella Watson Holmes.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Larry Holmes, Eugene Holmes, Earl Watson and Charles Watson; and two sisters, Eunice Kinstley and Lottie Goodman.

Survivors include one son, Fielding Glynn Holmes of Fayette; three grandchildren, Jason Holmes of Fayette, Jessica Holmes of Ponchatoula, La., and C.J. Holmes of Natchez; five great-grandchildren; three brothers, James Leslie Holmes of California, Robert Holmes and Tommy Holmes, both of Natchez; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Bonds, Michael Holmes, Danny Holmes, C.J. Holmes, Jason Holmes, David Kinstley, Timmy McKnight, Ralph Holmes and Steve Travis.
