ACC boys fall in semifinals

BROOKHAVEN — The Adams County Christian School boys basketball team fell one win shy of competing for a state championship.

Indianola Academy knocked off the surging Rebels 72-49 to earn a spot in today’s MAIS AAA boys state championship game.

Indianola seized control of the game in the second quarter after it used a 22-7 period to go ahead 35-23 at halftime.

Devin Spear led Adams County Christian wiht 16 points and Brody Cole chipped in with 10. Senior center Andrew Ratcliff also reached double figures with 10 points and Sneh Patel added seven points from his point guard post.

Indianola Academy was led in scoring by Caleb Wilson, who recorded a game-high 19 points. D.J. Bolden added 12 points for the Colonels, while Dearius Winfield and Ben Celveland each tallied 10 points apiece.

The Rebels (21-11) started off strong through the first quarter as they controlled a 16-13 advantage.

Indianola Academy then took over from there as it outscored ACCS 59-33 the rest of the way.

Indianola Academy advances to the championship game at 7:15 p.m. today against Columbia Academy.

Adams County Christian School, meanwhile will play Simpson Academy at 6 p.m. in the consolation game.

The Rebels must win today’s game to advance to next week’s MAIS Overall tournament.
