NATCHEZ — Services for Johnny Earl Smith, 80, of Natchez, who died Thursday, Jan. 27, 2011, at Natchez Community Hospital, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dan Wynn and the Rev. Wiley Reid officiating.

Burial will follow at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in McCall Creek under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Smith was born May 19, 1930, in Lucien, the son of John R. Smith and Ella Strait Smith. He was employed by Natchez First Federal Savings and Loan for a number of years prior to his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mytra Wilson Smith.

Survivors include one daughter, Chandra Harmond; two grandsons, Wilson “Wil” Harmond and Thomas Harmond, all of Sugar Hill, Ga.; two brothers, Donald R. Smith and wife, Rickey, and Roy Smith and wife, Lucille, all of Natchez; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be nephews.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Natchez First Baptist Church.
