FERRIDAY — Services for Leo Nelson Jr., 85, of Clayton, who died Tuesday, June 21, 2016, in Ferriday, will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Young’s Funeral Home Chapel in Ferriday with the Rev. Howard Hutson and the Rev. Wayne Spencer officiating.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Nelson was born Dec. 26, 1930, in Foules, La., the son of Leo Ithaniel Nelson Sr. and Daisy Egloff Nelson.

Mr. Nelson served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He retired from Catahoula Parish School System as a bus driver with 26 years of service.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Loveless Nelson; and three sisters, Dorothy Stogner, Ada Lea Nelson and Janice Case.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Gladys Martin Nelson; two sons, Martin Nelson and wife, Robin, of Ferriday and Paul Nelson of New Orleans; one granddaughter, Kristin Hendricks and husband, Tapper, of Vidalia; one grandson, Brad Nelson of Ferriday; four great-grandchildren, Caitlyn Hendricks, Skyler Maxwell, Claire Hendricks and Madeline Hendricks; and one sister, Janette Greene and husband, Albert, of Greenwell Springs, La.

Pallbearers will be Robert Stogner, Joel Arnold, Steven Stogner, Ben Nelson, John Case and Ronnie Nelson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to a charity of choice.
