Huntsville, Ala. — Elizabeth Dale Holleman, an aerospace engineer at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala., recently received the Silver Snoopy, the astronauts’ personal achievement award for professional excellence.

The award is presented to individuals within NASA, industry and international partner space flight teams for outstanding professional contributions to mission safety and success.

Less than 1 percent of the workforce receives the Silver Snoopy awards.

The award is a sterling silver Snoopy lapel pin flown during a NASA mission. “Snoopy the astronaut” is the creation of Charles Schulz, an avid supporter or the U.S. space program and the originator of the Peanuts comic strip.

The recipient also receives a framed certificate and a commendation letter. Holleman was commended for her work as the lead engineer for space shuttle orbiter main propulsion systems components, supporting the propulsion systems engineering and integration project office.

Holleman is the daughter of John and Betsy Holleman of Natchez and the granddaughter or Pat and Billy Dale of Natchez.

She is a graduate of Trinity Episcopal Day School, Washington and Lee University and LSU.
