Shots fired in city early Saturday

A gunman opened fire outside a night club early Saturday morning on Martin Luther King Jr. Street, though no injuries have been reported at this time, officials say.

Natchez Police Chief Walter Armstrong said a physical altercation escalated to gunfire outside Rockefeller Club around 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning.

Armstrong said a man walked up to the club and noticed a couple fighting an intervened.

After a brief fight, Armstrong said the boyfriend retreated to his car, retrieved a gun and shot at the man. Armstrong said no injuries have been reported as of yet.

Officers responded to a gun fire call and interviewed witnesses at the scene.

Armstrong said officers are investigating the shots call and hope the victim can identify the shooter.
