Sicily Island defeats LaSalle in fourth quarter and other LHSAS games

OLLA, La. — The Sicily Island High School Tigers scored a touchdown in the fourth quarter as they defeated the LaSalle High School Tigers 12-6 Friday night.

Sicily Island went up 6-0 in the first half and took that lead into halftime before LaSalle (0-3) tied the game in the third quarter before the visiting Tigers would score the game-winning touchdown.

Yes, weather was an issue in this game as the two teams had to endure a lightning delay that actually started at halftime.

Sicily Island (2-1) will take a two-game winning streak into its LHSAA District 2-1A opener at Ouachita Christian School in Monroe, La. Kickoff this Friday will be at 7 p.m.

General Trass 40, Delta Charter 26

FERRIDAY — The General Trass High School Panthers used a pair of third-quarter touchdowns to pull away from Delta Charter School as they went on to defeat the Storm 40-26 Friday night.

After a scoreless first quarter, the two teams traded touchdowns in the second quarter. But General Trass (3-0) went for two points on their attempts and converted both times while Delta Charter settled for extra points. That resulted in the Panthers taking a 16-4 halftime lead.

The Panthers then scored two touchdowns in a five-and-a-half-minute span of the third quarter to take a 32-14 advantage. The Storm scored late in the quarter to make it a 32-20 game, but General Trass put the game away with a touchdown and two-point conversion midway through the fourth quarter.

Delta Charter (1-2) hosts Oak Grove High School Friday at 7 p.m. in its LHSAA District 2-1A opener.

Jena 46, Block 0 (Thurs. night)

JONESVILLE, La. — The Jena High School Giants showed why they are the No. 3 team in the latest LSWA Class 3A poll as they routed the Block High School Bears 46-0 Thursday night.

Block (0-3) will travel to Natchitoches, La. to take on St. Mary’s High School Friday at 7 p.m. in the LHSAA District 3-1A opener for both teams.
