HATTIESBURG — Services for Mary Virginia Boyles Welker, 90, of Hattiesburg, who died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at her residence, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Parkway Heights United Methodist Church in Hattiesburg.
Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery under the direction of Hulett-Winstead Funeral Home in Hattiesburg.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
Mrs. Welker was born Sept. 5, 1928, in New Augusta, the daughter of the Rev. Andrew J. Boyles and Stella Mae Bible Boyles.
She moved with her parents as her father was assigned to Methodist congregations throughout south and central Mississippi. She entered elementary school in Bay St. Louis and graduated from Central High School in Jackson.
Welker was a member of Kappa Delta Sorority at Millsaps College, graduating in 1950 with a bachelor of administration in psychology. She lived for a number of years in Natchez, where her husband worked for the public school system. While in Hattiesburg, she was a member of PEO. Since 1966, she had been a member of Parkway Heights United Methodist Church and was in a circle of the United Methodist Women and in the Katie Rose McClendon Class.
She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant daughter, Diane Marie.
Survivors include her husband of 68 years, Dr. L. Conrad Welker; three daughters, Susan Ratcliff and husband, Marty, of Slidell, La., Jan Nielsen of Hattiesburg and Carol Krohn and husband, Steve, of Charlottesville, Va.; seven grandchildren, Karen Ratcliff Evans and husband, Mike, Tracey Ratcliff Scharf and husband, Matthew, Elizabeth Ratcliff Garver and husband, Andrew, Katie Nielsen Simour and husband, Zakaria, Misha Nielsen, Joseph Krohn and Peter Krohn; and four great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Parkway Heights United Methodist Church.
