Halloween brightens the season

Halloween will be officially observed on Wednesday but that doesn’t mean we haven’t been celebrating the holiday for several days now.

Last week and through last weekend, plenty of events allowed people in the Miss-Lou to get their spook on, including a “Track or Treat” event at Adams County Christian School last Tuesday, a Witches Ride on Friday on the Natchez Bluff and a haunted hayride or two on Saturday.

Halloween celebrations are among the good news items from the past week’s headlines, but plenty of other good news abounded, too.

Check out these good new items from the past week in the Miss-Lou:

* Christmas will be a bit brighter again this year for some children in need, thanks to the annual Toys for Tots Campaign conducted by the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve.

The organization is accepting registrations from families who qualify by presenting proof of income and other necessary identification and thanks to the generosity of Miss-Lou residents toy collections are going well so far this year.

For more information about how to register or donate, contact Deloris Wilson at 601-660-5019 or Valerie Quinn at 601-807-0188.

* Natchez High School celebrated another homecoming last Friday with a parade that livened the streets of downtown Natchez

And, as a bonus, Natchez won the homecoming game against Forest Hill and the win guarantees that the Natchez High School Bulldogs will compete in the upcoming playoffs.

Congratulations, Natchez High School and best of luck in the playoffs.

Those are just a few of the good news items from last week, and this week is sure to produce more good news.

Happy Halloween!
