NATCHEZ — Services for Ray C. Simpson, 88, of Vidalia, who died Friday, Nov. 9, 2018, at Camelot Leisure Living in Ferriday, will be 11 a.m. Monday, at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. Doug Broome officiating.
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will from 10 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home.
Mr. Simpson was born Oct. 15, 1930, in Centreville, the son of Lonnie Simpson and Lena Belle Hughes Simpson.
He was a member of First Baptist Church in Natchez. He was a former member of Lismore Baptist Church in Monterey and Washington Baptist Church in Washington. His hobbies included fishing, golf and was an avid supporter of the Ole Miss Rebels. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having proudly served in Korea.
Simpson was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Darrel Wayne Simpson; two sisters, Myrtle Melton and Opal Smylie; and one brother, Lonnie Simpson Jr.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Joyce VanNorman Simpson; three sons, William Ray Simpson and wife, Kitty, and Larry Wade Simpson, all of Natchez, and Garry Dale Simpson and wife, Jan, of Vidalia; daughter-in-law, Katherine R. Simpson of Boyce, La.; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Ray Simpson Jr., Reid Simpson, Wade C. Simpson, Eric Young, Kenneth Simpson and Lonnie Melton.
