NATCHEZ — Services for Myrtle Margueritte “Susie” Barfoot Carter, 70, of Natchez, who died Monday, Feb. 4, 2019, at her residence, will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Laird Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dr. Doug Broome and the Rev. Matt Martin officiating.    
Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction Laird Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at Laird Funeral Home.
Mrs. Carter was born Oct. 2, 1948, in Brookhaven, the daughter of Willie Butler Barfoot Sr. and Myrtle Maude Jackson Barfoot of Bude.
Susie was a 1966 graduate of Franklin High School in Meadville and a 1968 graduate of Copiah-Lincoln Junior College with a degree in secretarial science. She worked as a secretary for more than 25 years. She was a member of the Friendship Grace Sunday School Class and a member of the First Baptist Church of Natchez for more than 30 years.
Carter was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Willie Butler Barfoot Jr., and Doris Elaine Smith.
Survivors include her devoted loving husband of 48 years, David Carter; one sister, Dorothy Jean Creech of Bude; a number of nephews, nieces, great-nephews and nieces, great-great-nephews and nieces; and other relatives and friends.
Pallbearers will be Travis Jordan Thornhill, Justin Andrew Thornhill, Spencer Stutzman, David New Jr., Charles Cain, Bill Rice and Will Nolan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Christopher Ray Smith, Lawrence Murphy Smith and Lorman Carl Smith.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity of choice.
