FERRIDAY — Services for Penny Dean Daye, 78, of Ferriday, who died Monday, March 25, 2019, in Pensacola, Fla., will be 10:30 a.m. today at First Baptist Church in Ferriday with the Rev. Joseph Champion and Casey Young officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home in Ferriday.
Mrs. Daye was born April 18, 1940, in Ville Platte, La., the daughter of Hershel and Ada Williams Dean.
She studied at Louisiana State University and received an associate degree from Stephens College in Missouri, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She was the feature twirler at Ferriday High School and also for the University of Missouri. She started the Canine Cuties drill team at Huntington High School.
Penny was a member of First Baptist Church in Ferriday.
Daye was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Daye; her parents; and one great-grandson, Wyatt Russell.
Survivors include three sons, Donald Dean Daye and wife, Sheramie, of Opelousas, La., Daryl Lance Daye and wife, Kathy, of Johnson City, Tenn., and Derek Andrew Daye of Baton Rouge; two grandsons, Mitchell Daye and Dayne Daye; three granddaughters, Paige Daye, Kaelin Daye and Kayla Dugas; and two great-great-grandsons, Layton Daye and Tyler Daye.
Pallbearers will be Dean Daye, Daryl Daye, Derek Daye, Mitchell Daye, Dayne Daye, Dee Horton and Jesse Horton.
