Bernice Bordelon McLemore

VIDALIA — Funeral services for Bernice Bordelon McLemore, 92, of Vidalia, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Vidalia.

Visitation will be from 9 until service time Friday.

Bernice was born July 23, 1926, in Cottonport, La., to Lucielle and Clifford Bordelon.

She attended LSU and majored in business education. She married the love of her life, Jack McLemore Sr. in 1949. She was a longtime teacher at Vidalia High School and also taught at the Concordia Parish Trade School. She was an avid gardener and her yard was her pride and joy. She was past president of the Bruin-Vidal Chapter of DAR, a member of the Pilgrimage Garden Club, and she received at several antebellum homes. She also loved playing cards with friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband Jack McLemore Sr., son Jack McLemore  Jr., great grandson Alex Tate, and sisters Miriam and Elinor, and brother Derrill.

Survivors include  daughters, Lisa McLemore Tate and husband, Avrie, of Baton Rouge, and Ann McLemore Robichaux and husband, Drew, of Denham Springs, La.; daughter-in-law Nancy Babin McLemore, wife of the late Jack H. McLemore Jr.; grandchildren, Jack H. McLemore III and wife, Paige, of Baton Rouge ; Scott Barbin McLemore and wife, Laura, of Vidalia; David Allen Tate and wife, Rachael, of Navarre Beach, Fla.; Shannon Tate Messina and husband, Kevin, of Baton Rouge; Sherry Tate of Baton Rouge; Brian Michael Tate of Panama City, Fla.; great grandchildren, Molly McLemore, Natalie McLemore, Jack Hendrix McLemore IV, Brynn Lalonde, Stephanie Daigle, Chelsea Daigle, Arthur Messina, Benjamin Messina, Lila Tate, Ruby Tate, Charlotte Tate, Jakob Tate; great great grandchildren, Isaiah Lalonde, Kyler Daigle, Quinten McFarland, Treytin Daigle; sister Amy Muhs of Houston, Texas; brother-in-law, Robert McLemore and wife, Linda, of Arlington, Texas; sisters-in-law Dorothy Jean Falkenheiner of Vidalia, Pat McLemore of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Mary McLemore of Texas.

Pall bearers will be Drew Robichaux, Scott McLemore, Jack McLemore, III, and Mike Mayeaux. Honorary pall bearers are Avrie Tate, Charles Falkenheiner, Larry Chauvin, Bernard Sheppard, and Norman Edwards.
