JENA, Louisiana — Services for Harold Ivey “Red” Carter, 76, of Jena, entered eternal rest Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, at his residence surrounded by friends and family, will be 10 a.m. today at Searcy Baptist Church.   
Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery in Jena under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home in Jena.
Mr. Carter was born Oct. 2, 1942, in Woodville, the son of Jasper and Jewel Carter.
Red was the owner and operator of Jena Electric Company for 44 years. He was a devoted Christian and member if Searcy Baptist Church. He was also a devoted outdoorsman, a living husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Kalub Holley; and one great-grandson, Gavin.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 57 years, Margaret Carter; two sons, Harold Carter Jr. and wife, Frances, of Jena and Samuel D. Carter of Jonesville; one daughter, Jewel Marie Holley and husband, Ronnie, of Jena; one brother, Jimmy Carter and wife, Jessie, of Tanneyville, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Ashley Carmier and husband, Jordan, Shawn Carter and wife, Sheena, Clay Holley and wife, Carly, Chelsea Carter, Kain Hernandez, Christopher Carter, and Christin Ann Carter; eight great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Addison, Terralyn, Brently, Danielle, Demmi, Robert and Willow; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Holley, Clay Holley, Jacob Fontenot, Lewis Martin Paul, Benny Hailey, John Campbell and Larry Hardwick.
Honorary pallbearers will be the brothers of the Carrietta Lodge No. 312, Michael Dempsey No. 327 and Billy Floyd.
