The No. 1 Trojans are on a 10-game winning streak overall and a seven-game winning streak at Melz Field this season. Meanwhile, the No. 8 Yellow Jackets are on a seven-game winning streak and a two-game winning streak on the road.

The 10-game winning streak is not the longest in school history for the Ferriday. Ferriday Head Coach Stanley Smith said there was one year the Trojans  went undefeated.

At practices this week in preparation for the Yellow Jackets, Trojans Head Coach Stanley Smith said the Trojans have focused on their run defense and being more disciplined.

“Kinder is going to come in, they’re a smash-mouth team and they’re going to run the ball,” Smith said. “We’re going to make sure we get our assignments right on defense, so we can stop the run. We still committed a lot of penalties (last week), and we need discipline.”

One of the players to watch for the Yellow Jackets is running back Ty Fuselier. Fuselier had big runs against Red River High School in the 28-14 win over the Red River Bulldogs. In the game, Kinder scored four touchdowns compared to the Bulldogs only scoring two touchdowns.

To have tonight’s quarterfinal round game at home, Smith said it’s great to play at home.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. Friday at Melz Field at Ferriday High School.
