WOODVILLE — Thanks to a big first quarter on both ends of the court, the Wilkinson County Christian Academy Rams defeated the Tensas Academy Chiefs 55-41 Tuesday night.

The first quarter was indeed the key to WCCA’s victory as the Rams put up 19 points while holding Tensas Academy to just five points. The final three quarters, however, were just the opposite.

Both teams scored 12 points in the second quarter, giving the Rams a 31-17 halftime lead. The Chiefs outscored the Rams 13-11 in the third quarter, but WCCA answered with a 13-11 advantage of its own in the fourth quarter.

RJ Fisher led WCCA with a game-high 19 points and Roderick Bailey added 16 points. Andrew Sessions and Thomas Vannoy each scored eight points for the Rams.

Tensas Academy was led by Davis and Manuel (no first names were given) with 12 and 10 points, respectively.

WCCA (no record available) next plays at 7:30 p.m. today at Adams County Christian School.

Natchez 78, WCHS 38

WOODVILLE — Natchez High Bulldogs cruised to a 78-38 win over Wilkinson County High School Wildcats on Tuesday night.

The Bulldogs were led in scoring by five Bulldogs who scored in double-figures in points. James Singleton led the Bulldogs with 18 points, followed by CamRon Bailey and Trevon Jackson, who each scored 17 points, Kedarius Stampley was fourth with 12 points and Jekel Barnes finished the game with 10 points.

Bulldogs Head Coach David Haywood said the Bulldogs shared the ball well in spots.

“We played good in spots, but once we established a big lead, we got careless with the ball,” Haywood said. “We can’t afford to do that.”

Barnes returned on Tuesday night after spending two weeks with a fractured thumb. Haywood said it was good to see Barnes return.

Maliq Nebilla led the Wildcats with 13 points. Ian Bruster finished the game with six points.

Natchez High (5-1) will continue their five-game winning streak with a road game at 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 13 against McComb High School. Meanwhile, Wilkinson County High (1-6) will try to win another game at 7: 30 p.m. on Dec. 13 when they travel to Amite County High School.
