National Day of Prayer observed on both sides of the river amid pandemic

NATCHEZ — People in the Miss-Lou celebrated National Day of Prayer on Thursday in a variety of different ways.
The Natchez Area Ministerial Alliance hosted a Facebook Live event at noon on their Facebook page. Approximately 100 people watched the Natchez Area Ministerial Alliance’s Facebook Live event on Thursday through different watch parties and page shares.
Eight people from a variety of churches in the Natchez area came together to pray for a variety of people, varying from government to medical personnel and educators.
Scott Green, president of Natchez Area Ministerial Alliance, said the live stream was an amazing event.
“It was a perfect alternative to meeting live,” Green said. “For our first online, it was different but hopefully people enjoyed being able to participate. I’m grateful for having the opportunity to take the event online for people to join us. It shows the faithfulness of God.”
Outside Vidalia’s City Hall on Thursday, approximately 40 cars parked and prayed. Troy Thomas, pastor at Bethel Church, led the National Day of Prayer service at Vidalia’s City Hall. Thomas said the whole event can be seen on his Facebook page.
“We’re so grateful we have a town where the leaders believe that it’s our duty and honor to pray to God,” Thomas said. “I thank the leaders for opening up and allowing us to do the service at the city hall. I believe the event was encouraging.”
