Health Care Heroes: Take a look at the virus battle on the front lines

On the second floor of Merit Health Natchez, local health care providers are answering the call to care for local COVID-19 positive patients.

Local doctors, nurses and other health care staff have been working tirelessly since the first patients arrived in March.

Treating an unknown strand of coronavirus, these health care heroes have worked with perseverance and precaution to care for the sickest in the Miss-Lou.

Many of those fighting this unpredictable foe say they have never seen a situation like COVID-19.

Here is a look at the local health care fight on the front lines.

Merit Health Natchez registered nurse Emily Moak puts on her personal protection equipment before entering the room of a COVID-19 patient in need of ventilator care. The personal protection equipment is stored in vestibules created using Visqueen, in order to prevent the spread of the virus.
