The Natchez-Adams County Humane Society is having its annual membership meeting at 6 p.m. Nov. 20 at the Natchez Convention Center.

Anyone who plans to attend the membership meeting and be eligible to vote should make sure that their membership dues are paid by Oct. 20. If you paid your membership dues at the 2011 annual meeting, you will be eligible to vote at the 2012 meeting, but now is the time to renew your membership.

You can renew your membership at the meeting or mail it in. More information on dues payment and membership applications are available at the NACHS website, www.natchezpetadoptions.org.

New members of the board of directors will be voted on from a slate of candidates proposed by the NACHS nominating committee to replace outgoing directors.

The coming year will be an exciting and transitional one for the Natchez-Adams County Humane Society as the new shelter building is constructed and animals are relocated to a safer and more appealing facility.

Our hope is that the shelter pets will be healthier and happier after the move and that our adoption rates will increase because it will be a much more appealing place for potential adopters to visit.

A volunteer work force will be a huge asset to our organization, and we hope that the new building will also be a better place for our volunteers.
