Services for Louis Lee Lowery, 82, of Natchez, formerly of Lexington, Ill. and Summit, who died Sunday, Dec. 31, 2006 at Natchez Community Hospital, will be 11 a.m. Friday at Summit United Methodist Church with the Rev. Lloyd Calcote officiating.
Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, in Summit with full Military Honors, under the direction of Catchings Funeral Home, McComb.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and from 9 a.m. until service time Friday at the church.
Mr. Lowery was born Sept. 5, 1924, in Lexington, Ill., the son of John W. Lowery and Anna Blanche Ackerson Lowery. He was a retired cabinet maker and wood maker. His family stated that his greatest enjoyment was his wife, family, church and working with wood. He was a United States Army Veteran and served during World War II where he earned numerous medals including the Bronze Star.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Lynda Burns Lowery; sisters, Mary Ralston, Marjorie Lishka, and an unnamed infant sister; brothers, Eugene, Carl, Frank, Andrew, John and James Lowery; and grandchildren, Johnny Wade Lowery and Kelly Ann Burns.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Pearl Beck Anderson Lowery of Natchez; son, Larry Lee Lowery of Bloomington, Ill.; daughters, Loretta Corum and her husband, Dennis, of Down, Ill. and Lori Middleton of Natchez; brother, Paul Lowery of Bloomington; sisters, Emma Smith of Kemp, Texas, Frieda Willan and Dorothy Lipscome, both of Bloomington; grandchildren, Wendy McKenzie, Tracy Rogers, Jim Corum, Dan Corum, Nickole Corum and Lisa Middleton; great-grandchildren, Hadley McKenzie, Haden McKenzie and Eva Rogers; stepchildren, James Ladd Anderson and his wife, Bobbi, of Hagerstown, Md., Michael Anderson and his wife, Peggy, of Tylertown, Diane A. Woodall and her husband, Harold, of Natchez and Baton Rouge; step-grandchildren, Beth Trantham, Julie Westbrook, Damon Westbrook, Jonathan Woodall, Jimmy Anderson, and Stephanie Frazee; step-great-grandchildren, Anna Catherine Trantham and Jon Tatum Trantham; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Pallbearers will be Jim Corum, Jonathan Woodall, Danny Corum, Chad McKenzie, Damon Westbrook, Dennis Corum and Jim Rogers.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the American Lung Association of Mississippi, P. O. Box 2178, Ridgeland, MS 39158-2178.
